The SONO Collection Mall is one of the largest malls currently being built in the northeast and probably in the United States. It will have 1.1M SQ. FT. of retail, restaurant and commercial areas, including Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s, 80-100 small shop inline retailers, large public common areas, a rooftop garden, and exterior public plazas.

 

As the site development contractor, AMEC has been providing the following services:

• Elaborate soil remediation including trucking and disposal in coordination with state and local authorities

• Mass excavation of over 300,000 cubic yards of material

• Rock anchoring and soil nails along with ground improvements including grouted aggregate piers and modulus columns 

• Reinforcement of a shoring system that supports the MTA tracks adjacent to the project

• All ground improvements needed to support the superstructure, street improvements, utilities for water supply, drainage, and sewer installations, concrete and modular retaining walls, asphalt paving

• Off-site improvements

• On-site crushing and processing of aggregates
